At the Annual General Meeting of the NSSBA, school boards submit resolutions addressing matters of concern for the delivery of education in Nova Scotia for consideration of the membership. These resolutions are vetted through a Resolutions Committee, who reviews the resolutions in detail and prepares them for debate. The committee is comprised of representatives from each school board. The committee studies the resolutions, seeks information to clarify the topic if necessary, and makes a recommendation as to whether the resolution should be debated by the membership.
Once resolutions have been adopted at the AGM, they remain policy of the NSSBA for a five-year period. The practice of the NSSBA has been to submit adopted resolutions to the Minister of Education and Early Childhood for consideration and feedback.
Below are the adopted resolutions from the last five years.
